Palm Foundation and ZsONAMACO will mark the inaugural collaboration between Palm Foundation and ZⓈONAMACO, the largest art fair in Latin America. In its 2022 edition, ZSONAMACO welcomed over 52,000 visitors, and the 2023 edition will feature more than 210 exhibitors showcasing art, design, photography, and antiques.
Palm Foundation is honored to announce photographer Cara Romero, an enrolled citizen of the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, as the first grantee of the Palm Foundation Program. Romero's upbringing spans the rural Chemehuevi reservation in the Mojave Desert, CA, and the urban landscape of Houston, TX. Her artistic practice reflects her lived experiences as a Native American woman, focusing on cultural memory and collective history from both Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives.
Palm Foundation and Obilum are thrilled to support Cara’s web3 journey. Her photographs will be minted as NFTs for the first time, exhibited both physically and digitally during ZⓈONAMACO 2023, from February 8th to 12th in Mexico City. Cara Romero is represented by Bockley Gallery.
In line with Palm Foundation's mission to empower traditionally overlooked creative communities, the organization provides critical education, support, opportunities, and amplification for historically underrepresented artists and developers. This includes but is not limited to women, LGBTQI+, Latinx, Black, and Indigenous communities. Palm Foundation is excited to assist Cara and other artists like her in beginning and continuing their web3 journey. NFT Purchase and Physical Prints Cara's photographs will be available for purchase via Obilum.art, one of Palm Network’s contributors. The purchase of these NFT-format photographs will be linked to the physical prints displayed at the art fair through a QR code, blending digital and real-world art experiences. Bridging Digital and Physical Art The Palm Foundation grant program aims to bridge digital art and real-life experiences. By partnering with museums and galleries globally, the program showcases the art of community artists, promoting visibility and creating a space for the diversity of on-chain art. This mission begins with Cara Romero's exhibit at ZⓈONAMACO 2023.
