Democratizing a New Era of Art and Technology
Today marks the launch of the Palm Foundation, dedicated to empowering traditionally overlooked communities by providing resources to participate and thrive in the web3 ecosystem. The Palm Foundation aims to offer critical education, support, opportunities, and amplification for artists and developers from underrepresented groups, including but not limited to women, LGBTQI+, Latinx, Black, and Indigenous communities.
With a concerted effort to educate and support people in transitioning to web3, Palm Foundation collaborates with both emerging and established artists to create original digital art. Additionally, it develops programs to support artists, developers, collectors, institutions, and brands on the blockchain. The Palm Foundation Grant Program bridges digital art and IRL experiences by partnering with museums and galleries globally to showcase community art, thus enhancing creators' visibility and promoting the diversity of on-chain art within traditional institutions.
Palm Foundation Partnership Series I
The first partnership of Palm Foundation is with ZsONAMACO, the largest art fair in Latin America. The Palm Foundation will showcase both physical and digital art of the first selected artist (to be announced). The creation, drop, and showcase of the digital art will be managed by one of Palm’s network contributors. ZsONAMACO will take place from February 8 to 12, 2023, in Mexico City.
As a primary initiative to promote education, the Palm Foundation introduces "Palm Foundation — Elements," a handy and ever-evolving breakdown of the tools and concepts needed to effectively participate in this rapidly evolving ecosystem. Additional information on the foundation, mission, and philosophy can be found at palmfdn.org.
The Palm Foundation fosters innovation by supporting developers in creating new, user-friendly tools to grow our ecosystem. It aims to enable sustainable living for the creative community by establishing a framework for increased distribution of art and new pathways for collectors to relate to artists and institutions. The Palm Foundation operates on the Palm network, an environmentally-friendly, Ethereum-compatible sidechain, serving as the foundation for a new scalable and sustainable ecosystem for creators. Over 3 million NFTs have been minted on the Palm network, with more than 1 million wallet addresses and over 4 million transactions. Notable projects on the Palm network include those by Damien Hirst, DC, Warner Bros., LiveArt, Artists Valley, and Universal Music Group.
