Welcome to the world of Local Stable Diffusion at Palm Academy! The journey began with a bang as we kicked off the first class of the course, led by Purz.
With excitement buzzing in the air, we opened the doors to eager learners. We’d received about 100 registrations leading up to the class, and around 40 of you joined us live. If you missed this engaging conversation, don’t worry; you can now catch the recording.
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty, we took a moment to get to know Purz a bit more. In a special X Spaces session, he shared insights into his journey, providing a sneak peek of what we could expect in the upcoming course.

The class, held on September 21, was an enriching two-hour session. Purz didn’t waste any time and jumped right into action. First, he guided us through the installation and setup of the local environment. From installing Git and Python to configuring automatic1111, he made sure we were all on the same page.
What made this session stand out was how Purz seamlessly integrated the basic concepts with the installation process. As we set up our environment, he explained the fundamentals, making it a dynamic learning experience.
Once the installation was complete, Purz delved into the basics of getting started with prompting. He covered topics like Samplers & Steps, CFG Scale & Seeds, and the various options available in the web application. While the class didn’t go into extensive detail (remember, it was designed for beginners), Purz made sure we understood the possibilities each option unlocked. You can download the presentation.
Looking Ahead
Class 1 was just the beginning. We’re gearing up for the second session on Thursday, September 28, at 7 PM EDT. If you haven’t registered yet, you can still do so [here](insert link). This session will be a bit more advanced, so if you’re already familiar with using AI for image creation, you’re in for a treat. For those who are new to the world of AI, watching the recording of the first session is an excellent way to prepare for what’s coming.
Attendance Proof of Contribution (POC)
Here’s some exciting news! All of you who joined us live for Session 1 will receive an Attendance POC. But that’s not all — we have a second Attendance POC up for grabs for those who attend the live session on September 28.
The Final Project
Get ready for some creative fun! During the live session, we’ll unveil the details of the final project. In a nutshell, it involves minting your best creation on the Palm Network. We’ve got you covered with tutorials for NFTrade and Artist Valley. Make sure to submit your project by September 13 for a chance to win one of three grants of $200 each from the Palm Foundation. What’s Next
The second session will be recorded, so even if you can’t make it live, you can catch up later. And guess what? We have more exciting classes lined up for you in the near future. Keep an eye out for updates!
At Palm, we’re all about community participation. We’re working on a contribution weight-based governance approach, and collecting these POCs plays a crucial role in shaping our decision-making process.
