Great news for the art community! The Palm Foundation is breaking new ground with its Momentum-Lagos Residency Program. This initiative is all about connecting artists from different parts of the world. 20 grants will be offered through the program which will be jointly hosted in Berlin and Mexico City respectively.
For the 2024 edition, Lagos and Momentum have partnered with The Palm Foundation to offer a unique blend of traditional art and digital innovation to artists. 20 artists selected artists will receive up to $750 each, which will cover much of their residency costs. In return, they need to create 3–5 NFTs as part of their project. This initiative not only provides financial support but also introduces artists to the world of blockchain technology, offering technical support and encouraging exploration in new digital horizons.
If you’re worried about the technicalities of NFTs, don’t be. The Palm Foundation will guide you through the process, and you’ll keep all rights to your work. Plus, you can choose where to sell your NFTs.
This opportunity is open to all artists who want to expand their creative boundaries. The selection focuses on projects that delve into socio-political issues and explore the concept of identity and community. Here’s how to apply:
1- Visit https://www.artelagos.mx/lagos-momentum and fill out the online form.
2- Submit your CV, a short bio, an artist statement, a project proposal, your art portfolio, and your preferred timeframe and location.
3- Then, wait for an email confirmation. If selected, you’ll be invited for anonline interview to advance to the final stage of the selection process.
A committee from both LAGOS and MOMENTUM will select the participants. If you’re chosen, you’ll need to confirm your spot by paying 50% of the residency fee, with the full amount due a month before the residency starts. The artist who chose to in addition mint 3–5 NFTs will be eligible to receive the Palm Foundation Grant.
