Palm Marks a New Era in Digital Art at ZsONAMACO 2024

Palm Collective's participation in ZsONAMACO, Latin America's largest art fair, marked a significant milestone as the event celebrated its 20th anniversary. This landmark event showcased Palm Foundation’s commitment to integrating digital art into major art fairs and highlighted two significant firsts in the art world: providing a platform for artists without gallery representation and introducing the only full digital display at one of the world’s most prestigious art gatherings.

Highlights of Palm Foundation at ZsONAMACO 2024

Adding to the event’s significance, on Saturday, February 10th, ZsONAMACO featured a compelling talk on electronic and digital art, bringing together:

This engaging discussion culminated at the Palm Collective booth, where digital artists had the opportunity to explain their work directly to the audience, enhancing the interaction between artists and art enthusiasts.

Global Call for Digital Artists

The global call for digital artists, curated by a committee composed of Direlia Lazo, Glam Beckett, and Superchief Gallery NFT, who attracted a wide array of talent, emphasizing Palm Collective’s dedication to new talent in digital arts within traditional art settings. This initiative not only opened doors and democratized the art world for independent artists but also firmly positioned the Palm Collective at the forefront of digital art innovation.

Event Participation and Engagement

ZONAMACO Art Fair 2024 attracted over 81,000 visitors and featured more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries, showcasing the digital arts community’s vibrant engagement with decentralized governance from Feb 7th to 11th. Throughout the open call from January 17th to January 28th, 2024, the Palm Collective received 84 submissions, resulting in the creation of 1,035 Palm IDs. Participants minted their artwork on the Palm Network, leading to five artists being showcased at ZONAMACO, each awarded a $500 USD grant, plus five Honorary Mentions. The event highlighted the significant talent within the digital arts community and the critical role of community participation in shaping the future of digital and artistic expression. With 425 Palm IDs eligible to vote, the initiative underlined the community’s active involvement in decision-making, with the top artist receiving 81 votes, emphasizing the collective’s commitment to a democratic and inclusive environment for artists and enthusiasts. Voting Process and Community Involvement

The event featured a unique voting process by the Palm Collective, further engaging the digital art community and culminating in the award of an additional $1,500 USD grant to the artist with the highest number of votes. This process not only showcased the Palm Collective inclusive approach to art curation but also highlighted the democratic potential of decentralized governance. Showcased Artworks The showcased pieces at the Palm Collective stand from February 7th to 9th represented the zenith of digital art presentations, with artists retaining full intellectual and commercial rights to their work. This not only celebrated ZsONAMACO’s 20th anniversary but also underscored the Palm Collective vision for a future where digital and traditional art forms coexist seamlessly.
